Biography
Fredrick Lusuli Ikana is a Kenyan finance executive turned politician who serves as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Shinyalu Constituency in Kakamega County. Born and raised with a strong foundation in community leadership, he pursued advanced studies in finance and corporate strategy at the Michael G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.
Armed with this expertise, Ikana spent 14 years in the private sector as a sharp financial analyst and corporate leader. Most notably, he served as the Group CEO and Director of Operations for CentSavvy Investments from 2008 until 2022, while maintaining professional affiliations with the Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Bankers (KASIB).
In August 2022, Ikana made his political debut by running for the Shinyalu parliamentary seat on an Amani National Congress (ANC) party ticket under the Kenya Kwanza coalition. Despite being a political newcomer, he ran a highly effective grassroots campaign focused on economic empowerment, ultimately pulling off a major upset by winning 17,533 votes and unseating the heavily favored incumbent MP.
In the 13th Parliament, he has successfully utilized his corporate governance background within two vital legislative organs: the National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity Committee, and the high-profile Defence, National Intelligence, and Foreign Affairs Committee. Beyond his legislative roles, Ikana is widely celebrated for his grassroots philanthropy.
Upon taking office, he famously pledged his entire parliamentary salary to his charitable foundation, the Ikana Maendeleo Initiative, which directly funds secondary school bursaries, free primary school uniforms, rural road upgrades, and electricity expansion projects across his constituency.
