1. Introduction

Welcome to Vote Smart KE.

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the Vote Smart KE website, candidate directory, candidate comparison tool, voter-education resources, and related digital services.

By accessing or using Vote Smart KE, you agree to comply with these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use the platform.

Vote Smart KE may update these Terms of Use as the platform develops. Continued use of the platform after an updated version is published may constitute acceptance of the revised terms, subject to applicable law.

2. About Vote Smart KE

Vote Smart KE is an independent civic-information and voter-education initiative that seeks to help Kenyan citizens access clear, structured, and responsibly presented information about:

  • Electoral candidates
  • Public leadership
  • Candidate backgrounds
  • Leadership experience
  • Candidate vision
  • Key priorities
  • Proposed approaches to public issues
  • Electoral and civic participation
  • Constituency and county profiles

Vote Smart KE aims to support informed decision-making. The platform does not tell citizens whom to vote for.

Publication of a candidate profile does not mean that Vote Smart KE:

  • Endorses the candidate
  • Recommends the candidate
  • Supports the candidate’s political party
  • Guarantees the accuracy of every candidate statement
  • Confirms that the candidate will fulfil stated commitments

3. Definitions

You may use Vote Smart KE only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms.

You agree not to use the platform to:

  • Political affiliation

The absence of information does not necessarily indicate that a candidate lacks the relevant qualification, experience or position.

7. No Political Endorsement

Vote Smart KE is nonpartisan.

The appearance of a candidate on the platform does not mean that Vote Smart KE:

  • Supports the candidate
  • Opposes the candidate’s opponents
  • Recommends the candidate
  • Has verified every campaign claim
  • Has formed a political opinion about the candidate

The order in which candidates appear may be based on:

  • Alphabetical order
  • Search results
  • User-selected filters
  • Website functionality
  • Other neutral technical or editorial criteria

Display order should not be interpreted as a ranking or endorsement.

8. Information Accuracy and Limitations

Vote Smart KE seeks to provide useful, accurate, and responsibly presented information.

However, we do not guarantee that:

  • Every profile is complete
  • Every item is current
  • Every candidate statement is independently verified
  • Every public source is accurate
  • Candidate information will remain unchanged

  • The platform will always be available without interruption

Information may change after publication.
